1. Regarding Personal Information Acquisition

Morinaga collects and holds the personal information of the following individuals.
Morinaga will use your personal information only for the purposes specified below, and will obtain your prior consent to use your personal information for purposes other than those specified, except as required by law. If you are under 14 years of age, please obtain the confirmation of a legal representative such as a person with parental authority to confirm this policy and consent to the handling of your personal information.

2. Security Control Measures

Morinaga has established internal regulations and security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal data and to correct the same. In order to achieve the above objectives, we take the following measures:

1. Establishment of basic policy and discipline for the handling of personal data
The "Personal Information Protection Policy," "Rules for Handling Personal Information," and "Detailed Rules for Handling Personal Information" have been established as internal regulations, which stipulate the handling of personal information within the company as well as compliance with the Personal Information Protection Law and other related laws and regulations.
2. Human security management measures
Morinaga strives to raise awareness of personal information protection by educating and enlightening employees and others through measures such as stating confidentiality of personal data in the Rules of Employment and conducting in-house training on personal information protection.
3. Safety management measures for the organization
In managing your personal information, Morinaga will appoint a person in charge in each department that handles personal information to ensure appropriate management, and will take the utmost care to prevent the leakage of personal information to outside parties, such as by establishing a reporting and communication system in the event that we learn of a violation of the Personal Information Protection Law or the Personal Information Handling Regulations. Morinaga will take the utmost precautions to prevent the leakage of personal information to outside parties. In addition, a system is in place in the event of an incident such as a leakage of personal data.
4. Physical security management measures
In addition to controlling the entry and exit (rooms) of employees and others, physical protection is provided to prevent theft or loss of equipment, electronic media, and documents that handle personal data. Personal information that is no longer needed for the intended purpose of use, such as when the purpose of use has been achieved, is promptly and appropriately deleted or disposed of.
5. Technical security management measures
Morinaga implements access control to limit the scope of persons in charge and the personal information databases handled, etc., and Morinaga takes appropriate and reasonable security measures against unauthorized access from outside by installing a defense system and periodically inspecting and monitoring the system.
6. Understanding foreign environments
When handling personal data outside of Japan, we implement safety control measures based on an understanding of the systems of those foreign countries concerning the protection of personal information.

3. External Commissions

Morinaga may outsource all or part of the handling of personal information to outside parties. Morinaga selects contractors that are recognized as handling personal information appropriately and concludes a contract with them that stipulates appropriate protection of personal information.
Morinaga will also ensure that the contractor appropriately manages personal information, maintains confidentiality, and otherwise prevents leaks, etc. of your personal information.
The handling of personal information by contractors includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Notification of information on new products and services, campaigns, and new products of Morinaga or the group companies by e-mail, SNS, etc.

4. Providing Information to Third Parties

Morinaga will never disclose or provide your personal information held by us to any third party without your consent. However, we may disclose or provide personal information without your consent in the following cases:

  • 2. When disclosure is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual, and is difficult to obtain the consent of the person in question.
  • 3. When it is especially necessary to improve public health or to promote the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person in question.

With respect to the personal data and records of provision to third parties (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Retained Personal Data, etc.") held by Morinaga, if there is a request from the individual or his/her representative for notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, or suspension of use (including erasure and suspension of provision to third parties), or for information on measures necessary to ensure the continuous implementation of equivalent measures by third parties located abroad (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Requests for Disclosure, etc."), Morinaga will respond within a reasonable period and scope.

Please enter matters sufficient to identify the Retained Personal Data, etc. subject to the Request for Disclosure, etc. in the prescribed application form (except in the case of a request for information on measures necessary to ensure the continued implementation of equivalent measures by third parties located abroad).

3. Application Forms for Requests

When submitting a request, please fully complete form A (application), prepare documents or papers listed in B (proof of identity of yourself or your representative) and send it together inside one envelope to the previously mentioned address.

4. Expenses for Requesting
It is required that individuals requesting to notify the usage or to reveal the personal information pay the fees of returning mail with the standard below.
Please include an empty envelope with 800-yen stamp attached together with the application form and necessary documents and send it to the address mentioned. Your application will be handled, and the response from us will be sent to you via the empty envelope enclosed.
We will inform you if you did not attach the stamps with your empty envelope. If we do not receive the stamps, your application will be discarded.
5. Responses to the Requests
We will send our response to your application by letter to the address stated in the application form and submit the legal documents. Please note that we might not be able to send a response to you if the address on your legal papers and your application form do not match.
6. Personal Information Acquired via the Above Request Processes
Personal information acquired via the above-mentioned request process will only be used for this specific purpose.
The copy of your, as well as all other involving parties’ legal documents, will be discarded with extra care after your request has been properly handled.

6. For Inquiries Related to Personal Information

If you have any questions or inquiries related to above personal information policies, you may either send an e-mail to our customer service center or a letter to the Personal Information Management Group mentioned previously.

7. Regarding the Modification of this Policy

In the course of modifying this Policy, Morinaga will announce on the website of the Policy modification, the content of the modified Policy and the effective date.
