Business Fields―Commitment to Quality
Morinaga Products and Our Commitment to Quality and Safety
People at Morinaga work from the point of view of their customers. We consider all phases from planning and development of products, production and distribution, to post-consumption. Quality is priority number one. Quality Assessment*1 is employed at the planning stage, and the Morinaga HACCP*2, Morinaga’s unique quality control, at the production stage. The Quality Assurance Department supervises overall quality operations.
*1: A system with which to inspect safety and legal compliance of 230 items including design, labeling, best-before dates, production conditions, and packaging.
*2: Morinaga’s proprietary system, based on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), international standards for food safety, manages packaging conditions as well as quality aspects of shapes and tastes of products.
Our Quality Assurance System
Guaranteeing the Safety of Ingredients

- Morinaga purchases raw materials from manufacturers who meet strict standards and specifications set by us. We examine material purchase specifications submitted by the raw material suppliers to confirm that they are not in violation of laws governing food sanitation. We also confirm information relating to safety and peace of mind such as origin, processing conditions, and the presence of food additives, allergenic substances, and genetically-modified materials. At the Food Safety Center, materials are tested for the presence of chemicals such as pesticide residues or heavy metal and microbes to confirm that they are safe to use in our products.
Quality Control at Our Plants
Morinaga’s factories are controlled according to the Morinaga HACCP. This requires the testing of raw materials, inspection during processing, and inspection of products being shipped, so as to prevent producing or shipping a defective product. Regular audits and inspections also ensure that the quality control system is working correctly at factories so as to secure safety and quality.
Maintaining Control from Storage to Transport to the Store Counter
Morinaga’s Product Handling Standards ensure that products shipped from our factories will be maintained under appropriate temperature, humidity, and handling conditions until they reach our customers. The appropriate mode of transportation, handling at logistics centers, and temperature and humidity control are maintained for each product.
Our Safety Initiatives
Accuracy and Transparency
Labeling on packages must comply with laws and regulations, such as the Food Sanitation Act and JAS Act. They also provide customers important information in their decision to choose a product. We always ensure that our labeling contains health-related information, such as allergens, nutrition, and best-before dates in a format which is easy to read and understand. We also publish allergy information on our website to ensure that our customers can choose our products with peace of mind.
The Customer’s Voice? We’re Listening!
The requests and suggestions received by the Customer Service Center (the voice of customers) are shared by all departments so that we can respond to our customers speedily. Our “Voice of Customer Committee” ensures that the voice of customers is heard throughout the organization and reflected in the development of products.
